Treadmill Desk or Treadmill Workstation

Why You Want a Treadmill Desk,

Possibility 1 :

If you’ve ever watched Boiler Room, you’d probably remember Ben Affleck yelling :

“Get off your ass! Move around! Motion creates emotion!

Possibility 2:

You know you need the exercise. Whether you need to increase your metabolic rate, in a non-exhausting manner; or you need to work your back muscles, because sitting around all day is giving you backaches and sore legs. Or, maybe you’re always coming down with some cold or flu, or something of that sort, because your health has gone down down down.

Possibility 3:

Like me, you’re an active person. Highly kinesthetic. Can’t sit still without shaking your legs of swinging it around. Or can’t sit in a chair for more than an hour.

You just keep getting up to walk over to somewhere, anywhere it doesn’t matter, just as long as you can get out of that sedentary position.

Frankly, you’d rather be outdoors playing some sport or jumping off a cliff (bungee cords strapped on to you and all that).

But you got work to do and that requires you to be sitting down.

Well, there’s an alternative:

The Treadmill Desk a.k.a. Treadmill Workstation .

from Wikipedia:

“The aim of a treadmill desk is to integrate movement and gentle exercise into the working day of an otherwise sedentary office worker. Rather than sitting all day in a chair, a treadmill desk allows desk-based workers to stand and take a slow walk while working. At slower walking speeds, most able-bodied people can undertake desk-based tasks such as typing or talking on the telephone.”

Probably the 1st person to design the treadmill desk is Dr. Seth Roberts, a professor of psychology from UC Berkeley back in 1996. Dr. James Levine, an endocrinologist at the Mayo Clinic made his own  treadmill desk by placing a bedside hospital tray over a
$400 treadmill.

Whether you buy one or you make-it yourself, here are some I found :
